‘But despite the mercy killings of labradors and pussy cats, this is a light-hearted and upbeat memoir. It’s also one that has its own heart-warming personal drama, as our veterinary heroine falls in love with a local wildlife bod and ends up marrying him. It’s also curiously informative. Did you know that calves are born in the Superman position? Or that ‘to rectal’ is a verb? Nor did I until I read this engaging book. Which I can also heartily recommend.’
