Mike Perham given Maritime Foundation Award

Congratulations to Mike Perham who has been given an Outstanding Award by The Maritime Foundation at their Maritime Media Awards Dinner for his book Sailing the Dream.

“The Certificate of Merit is awarded to the author of the most inspirational work and is written by a teenager whose courage and determination have earned him a place in the annals of outstanding accomplishments. Being alone, coping with life and death situations while always driving for a destination, is not something that can be taught at school. The author sought to make his impression as the youngest person to sail single handed around the world. A voyage described with modesty while also demonstrating a passion and sheer guts.”

The judges commented: ‘This book will inspire young people to believe in their capacity to accomplish great feats of endurance in pursuit of meaningful purpose. We hope it will be made available to school and college libraries’
