Paul Bessell

Paul Bessell was born in 1952, and joined his father’s companies, Peter Bessell Limited and Peter Bessell Incorporated, as an investment broker at the age of nineteen. He spent the next two years commuting between London and New York.

When his father disappeared, Paul left the family business and entered the pop-music industry as a production assistant for ATV Music. He went on to become a prominent UK music publisher, both for ATV, CBS Songs and then independently. He signed and worked with many successful writers including Billy Ocean, Tony Hiller of Eurovision winning fame, Barry Blue and many others.

After he left the music business he created and ran several successful companies in transport and road safety. He also wrote a well-received screenplay, Man Flies, based on the remarkable true story of flying pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont.
