Denise Gossage Biography

Born in Bristol, Denise Gossage graduated with a first class degree in Economics & Accounting from Bristol University. 

She worked for two years at The Centre for Market and Public Organisation, studying the fundamental issues underlying public service reform.  She published a paper with Professor Carol Propper and Professor Simon Burgess on the impact of the NHS internal market in The Economic Journal, the world’s most respected economic journal.  This work featured in national media, including the Guardian and the BBC news, and has influenced the political agenda on health policy.

She won a postgraduate scholarship at Oxford University and did an M.Phil (Masters) in Economics.  She then completed a D.Phil (PHD) in Economics at Oxford University, in just one year.

She worked for three years as a Strategy Consultant with a prestigious international consultancy firm, helping CEOs and their leadership teams build stronger organisations.

Denise then moved to the public sector advising government on strategy on policy.    She worked in the Home Office Strategic Policy Team, advising the Home office Board on crime and terrorism reduction strategy.  She is currently Director of Strategy and Policy for an economic development Division of the Government of Dubai, tasked with overseeing the economic development strategy for Creative industry sectors to drive the economic growth of Dubai and the UAE.
